On Monday I wrote about my property tax refund of $398.96 from Sacramento County, and I ended up making a complimentary video. I am now using Sony Vegas HD Studio 10 and my friend Jenny is letting me take her green screen for a test drive before I purchase one myself. This was my first stab. There are some things I would do differently, but over the next few months I’ll be cranking out some more videos and honing my skills. Honestly, I REALLY enjoy making videos and it’ll be something you see more of from me.
What do you think?
Tom Horn says
Great job Ryan! Hey, I ran across a how-to guide on making your own green screen. If I can find that I will email the link to you. Good luck.
Ryan Lundquist says
Thanks Tom. I appreciate the link you emailed me too. You know, I have a friend that works for a local Fortune 500 company and they have an entire room painted green. He may let me use it. I wouldn’t make videos for business, but maybe some non-profit stuff I am involved in. I really look forward to doing that in the next month or so to help with some outreach we are doing.

Very Cool Ryan. I like the video a lot. What a great story too, perfect way to advertise your business. Did you ever decide what to spend the money on?
Ryan Lundquist says
Thanks so much, Bryan. I hope it advertises well. I just took on another appeal for a Natomas home owner about an hour ago (a Sacramento neighborhod).
The money I mentioned, well, we are going to go the boring but responsible route and use it on bills. 🙁 My dream list certainly includes some of the previously mentioned things. However, I am making a couple of video purchases over the next month for Sony Vegas 10 (I have the trial right now and I’ll use it until I need to upgrade) and maybe a green screen of my own so I don’t have to borrow one from a friend. So technically I could say we’re using the money for fun stuff.

Congratulations Ryan on thinking “outside-the-box” and providing evidence to your community that the tax appeal process really does produce results. This is appraiser marketing at its’ finest! Bill Cobb
Ryan Lundquist says
Bill, thank you so much for the very nice compliment. I hope the video will help people see the value in at least investigating their property taxes to see if there is a potential savings. We shall see. All we cna do is our best. Take care, Bill. Thanks again. It means a lot.

Hey there Ryan, LOVE your new video. As always, your wonderfully warm and friendly personality shines through, and what an innovative and fun way to share your message. You are going to LOVE Sony Vegas – we’ve been using it here at Brightfarm for many years! Can’t wait to see more videos!
Ryan Lundquist says
Barbara, thanks so much for your encouragement. It means a lot. I’m having so much fun with Sony Vegas, but in truth there is so much to learn and I don’t have much time. I wish I could devote an entire two weeks to rapid learning, but I don’t have that luxury. 🙂 You’ll have to give some Brightfarm video tips to me one of these days. I’d actually love to see some of the stuff you’ve put together.
