I’ve had a green screen in my office over the past year, and it’s been a fun addition to my video production arsenal. I’ve been using a green screen for both business and non-profit ventures, and you can see some of my videos on my YouTube channel if you wish (like this one). Right now I have an actual cloth green screen hanging up that is about 5′ x 7′, but since I want something a bit larger and more permanent, I’ll be painting one wall the color below (yes, that’s Disney paint). If all goes well, I’ll gain some significant ground on this project over the weekend. I’m actually still looking for the perfect medium to paint on though. My office wall has a bit of bumpy texture, and I don’t want the surface to get in the way of video quality, so I’ll be painting on either new wood or several pieces of new sheetrock. I’m open to tips if you have some.
What do you have in your office that might surprise the average person?

I am hired periodically from local real estate agents and home owners to do an appraisal during a short sale situation. Sometimes a bank will absolutely not budge to accept an offer lower than what they deem to be acceptable (even though their price is way too high), so the Listing Agent or home owner will hire me to do a full appraisal. The goal for the agent and owner is to show the bank what true market value is so that the sale can hopefully proceed at a more realistic price based on the market rather than a number the bank has picked. For example, if a bank says they will accept $200,000 for a property, but all other sales are at $175,000, a solid appraisal could potentially give the bank a realistic view of the market and thus help the home owner avoid foreclosure.

Happy New Year! I hope 2011 is turning out to be great so far. After having just returned from Southern California for a week visiting with family, I am geared up and ready for the year ahead. As I blaze forward in life and business, I wanted to take a glance at this past year of blogging and highlight my eleven favorite posts of 2010. It wasn’t easy to pick only eleven posts, but the ones below made the cut because of fond memories of great conversation, relevant information, or just the sheer fun of posting about the topic.
